I recently decided to take on photography since I wanted to take good pictures and had gotten tired of my old P&S (Point and Shoot) small camera (a Sony)
After much research I purchased a Olympus E-510 since it was the best bang for the buck and it seemded to suit me the best.
We have been then on a 2 week vacation and I had a chance to get used to the camera since I needed to take pictures of the locations that we were at and that meant I had to get to grips with this thing fast!
I took several pictures (about 1200) out of which I deleted about 400 and more are still to go. I am getting o grips slowly with all the features and also on what to look for when starting to photograph.
Overall I think it is essential for people that want to get into the DSLR or photographing hobby reserve enough time to learn and read up on it.
I spent the better part of 2 weeks beforehand, watching VIdeo tutorial, reading up on what f-stops, white balance, aperture and shutters peed are and how they function.Once I got the camera I spent a fair amount of time reading the novel that came with the camera about a guy called MANUAL :).
I am thinking that I will need a lot more time with this but so far the results are quite passable I think…
Photography can become a hobby, just need to get into it like with anything else.
